Trent
Skaggs-a life long resident of the 31st District-lives, works
and attends church in North Kansas City. After graduating
from North Kansas City High School, Trent attended Northwest
Missouri State University where his peers elected him as the
Student Body President. While working full time, Trent earned
his masters degree in public administration with an emphasis
in healthcare from the University of Missouri Kansas City.
Last
year, Trent started a small business with six other partners
in hospital management consulting located in North Kansas
City. His work in hospital management gives him practical
experience in dealing with the healthcare concerns that many
families and elder citizens face daily.
Currently,
Trent serves the community as a member of the Democratic Central
Committee, a board member of Concerned Care, which provides
housing for the mentally handicapped, a member of the North
Kansas City Tax Increment Finance Committee, Co-Chair of Young
Friends of the Northland, a member of the NKC Business Council
and the NKC Breakfast Club. Through these activities, Trent
has gained thorough knowledge of economic, political and social
issues in our community.

Trent's
life in politics began when he was only 9 years old when he
worked on his father's first campaign. Trent spent many of
his teen-age years working on local campaigns and witnessing
first-hand state politics in Jefferson City from his father
Bill Skaggs. More recently, Trent has participated in city
council and senate elections.
Trent's
interest in the community also extends beyond the local area.
As a student at North Kansas City High School he was involved
in the AFS program and spent a summer living in Yugoslavia.
When he attended NWMSU, he also studied abroad in the Czech
Republic and worked as an intern for the Missouri Department
of Economic Development in Germany. His many travels give
him a valuable perspective on the diverse needs and issues
of the larger community.
